The Antarctic is the planet's last true wilderness. The Antarctic Peninsula and crossing The Antarctic Circle is a journey like no other. The highlights of the Antarctic Peninsula were Deception Island, Paradise Bay, Neko Harbor ,the Lemaire Channel, Plenneau Bay, and beyond the arctic circle. Penguins, seals and whales were plentiful. The advantage of being on an expedition ship were many especially for getting close to the ice and unexplored coves. I felt small and humbled in the zodiac with the huge icebergs next to me.
The light, colors and reflections were stellar. The silence and sheer magnitude of Antarctica brought up questions of creation and sustainabilty to me. I never thought of myself as a landscape photographer but was attracted to the incredible shapes, colors, patterns and reflections of the ice.
