There is something comforting about getting lost on the cobbled streets of Camagüey . It’s because of the Cubans that live there and always welcome you into their homes. You are never a stranger in Camagüey, and always feel welcome and part of a larger family. Although the streets are narrow and winding the church steeples serve as a reminder as to where you are in the city. Keep your eye on a steeple and it will guide you back to the city center. The town is sprawling yet poetic. Its people make it rich and welcoming yet many are desperately in need and a sadness hangs over the city, like an old familiar blanket.
