Havana and Trinidad 2017
My mother introduced me to Cuba. She traveled there in the 50's and developed a love for the Cuban people. We had two wonderful trips to the island together and I have returned frequently thereafter. Carrying her torch of love for the people living in a country that is often difficult to understand. I try to capture the spirit and dignity of the Cuban people in their everyday life never losing sight of their turbulent past.
As a photographer my goal is to benefit the people I photograph in some way. Perhaps by telling their story or raising awareness about their everyday concerns. Most important to me is the relationship I develop with my subject that lives on long after we've said good bye.
