Antarctica Ice

The term "Antarctic" describes the area around the south pole, which comprises a terrestrial and marine environment including the continent itself and the surrounding ocean. As a frozen continent surrounded by oceans, Antarctica is a completely unique entity on our planet different from its geographical opposite, the Arctic.

Antarctica covers 5.4 million square miles, making it bigger than Europe. The Transantarctic mountains divide it into the eastern and western regions.

This was my third trip to Antarctica and I found a deeper connection with the continent and our planet. Initially I was overwhelmed with the magnificence of Antarctica. Now I felt a relationship with the ice and a fascination with the colors, shapes and patterns. I saw the ice as living, breathing, expanding and melting. It came alive for me. I found peace in this huge universe of ice. A trip to Antarctica is a humbling experience of awareness and awe!.
