Dede Pickering
Photographer, Explorer, Advocate

Exploring humanity, culture, and the fragile beauty of our planet through photography.

Born in Princeton, New Jersey, Dede Pickering has long been drawn to water and continues to spend summers along the Jersey Shore. Her photography has been internationally exhibited and published, and her work resides in private and public collections. In 1998 she was inducted into the
The Explorers Club, an organization dedicated to advancing scientific exploration and field research.

Her travels with humanitarian organizations have taken her from remote West African villages to the crowded streets of India and the fragile landscapes of the polar regions. These experiences continue to shape a body of work grounded in exploration, empathy, and environmental awareness.

Dede Pickering is a photographer whose work explores the intersection of humanity and the natural world. Having traveled to more than one hundred countries across all seven continents, her images reflect a deep curiosity about culture, landscape, and the fragile environments that connect us all.

Her work has evolved from documentary street photography to include aerial perspectives and abstract studies of the polar regions. Through these shifting vantage points, Pickering reveals patterns, textures, and moments of stillness that speak to both the beauty and impermanence of our planet.

Through photography she seeks a connection between people, places, and the shared human experience.
