In February of 2023, I made my sixth trip to Antarctica.
What keeps me returning to this extreme part of the world, especially south of the Antarctic Circle where few boats travel? The reasons are deep, unique, and personal. A single journey there simply isn’t enough, and if it really gets under your skin, you will find yourself returning time and time again, as I have. My reasons are beyond the wildlife, snow-capped mountains, and icebergs. It’s the impermanence of the landscape and things that might not be obvious. It’s the mood, light, and wind. It’s how I felt about myself at the end of the earth. It’s embracing the unknown and satisfying my thirst for exploration.
