Myanmar Tattoos and Pagodas 2011
Shortly before arriving in Burma, in 2011, Aung San Suu Kyi was released from house arrest where she had been detained for years. Her long hope for freedom came just days after Burma (Myanmar) staged its first election in 20 years.
To me, Burma, is one of the most beguiling destinations that fills your soul and dreams for years to come. A place you can't get out of your mind. From the gold, glistening, Shwedagon pagoda in Rangoon (Yangon) to gliding silently in a balloon above the temples pf Bagan (Pagan). Trekking into the Chin hills, traversing ridges and visiting tribal Chin villages along the way. Spending the night in a traditional village, sleeping on the floor, and photographing tattooed faces and daily life.
A trip to Burma is not complete without visiting Inle Lake famous for its leg rowers: the fishermen stand at the stern of the boat on one leg and wrap the other around the oar to propel the boat.
