The first time I saw Iceland from the air, I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was a view one could only imagine. Soaring above the earth, the Icelandic terrain appeared magical. The waterways, with their alluvial formations, much like the vascular system of the human body, are the arteries of life. I was instantly drawn to the unusual patterns and unique colors. Nature is the greatest artist, and this was a canvas I had not seen before. The experience shifted my perspective and revealed nature’s palette in a new light. Braided rivers, formed by twists and turns of channels of water, salt, and silt, flowed and merged with the sea. These waterways ran in every direction, seemingly searching for balance and a place to settle, snaking around hills and obstacles until they found their pathway to the sea. The fascinating natural patterns they left behind could be most fully appreciated from the air.
